There’s no real point—she believes her government knows how to best protect its people, and should do so at any cost. But 95 days before her cure, Lena meets Alex, a confident and mysterious young man who makes her heart flutter and her skin turn red-hot. As their romance blossoms, Lena begins to doubt the intentions of those in power, and fears that her world will turn gray should she submit to the procedure. Review (from Julie): Lena, our heroine, feels safe and is ready NOW to take the cure to keep her safe from the deliria (love). According to the book of SHHH once she is cured she will take on the life she is intended, along with a husband the government helps her in selecting. Everything seems to be moving along as desired, that is until the day she takes her test and sees a young man who helps stage a sabotage. Later on when Lean and her best friend Hana go for a run, they inadvertently meet up with a guard who looks just like the young man from that day at her test. Lena realizes this is the young man she saw and decides, after curiosity gets the best of her, to get to know him. His name is Alex and he will forever change everything she thought she knew. Will she contract the deliria or will she be cured in time?
If you are a fan of M. Night Shyamalan you may find this story line similar to "The Village" but it is definitely not the same (don't get the two confused). It also falls in line with Suzanne Collins "The Hunger Games". This is a great read and I recommend it.
